A River Runs Through Me

I found a river today. Walking through the forest with the brisk wind blowing against my face was invigorating. I hear birds and see fat squirrels and anticipate another deer sighting. My breathing has changed due to the increased altitude but it's a worthy discomfort..
After 20 minutes I hear a sound, not a noise but a sound. The sound is of flowing, not of bubbling or splashing. The sound is subtle and peaceful. It is a welcome sound. Come to me. Listen to me. It arises gently in the background yet pervades my senses.
A few steps forward and I see the source. The river is found. It exists. Between the blue cloudless sky and the green pasture filled with evergreens. A snow capped mountain sneaks a peak. “Welcome” says the river, I am glad you could be here today.
